Geneva Festivals and Events:
Geneva, Illinois is home to many popular annual festivals and events. Our Swedish Days Festival is a June event that is fun for the entire family. The six-day celebration offers great food, carnival rides, games, live music, a parade, and Sweden Vast.
Festival of the Vine
This annual autumn harvest celebration lets you savor the flavor of Geneva—both wine and food. Sip wines from around the world and sample mouth-watering international specialties prepared by Geneva restaurateurs. Enjoy an array of musical and dance entertainment as well as an arts and crafts show, merchant wine offerings, flower market, complimentary trolley and horse-drawn carriage rides.
Christmas Walk & House Tour
The traditional Geneva Christmas Walk celebrates the beauty of the season with many shops and restaurants offering specials and events throughout the weekend. The walk begins when Santa Lucia, the Swedish symbol of the season and her attendants arrive by horse-drawn carriage to offer Swedish cookies to visitors. Santa then makes his appearance to light the Great Tree and opens his Gingerbread House. The House Tours offer five distinctive homes decorated for the holidays and open for self-guided tours.
Recreation & Activities:
The Fox River Trail is located just across the water from our hotel. The trail has miles of waterfront access and is perfect for walking, running or biking. Bike rentals are available at Mill Race Cyclery, which is just across the river and on the bike trail.
Fabyan Villa Museum & Japanese Garden
Offers guided tours on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays mid-May through mid-October. They are approximately 45 minutes long and cover the 1st and 2nd floor of the house, highlighting the Fabyan history, the scope of the estate, and the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture.
Visitors are able to stroll through the Fabyan Forest Preserve, encompassing 200 acres of the Fabyan estate and enjoy the remnants of the elaborate grounds; including the renovated historic Japanese Garden, open Wednesday and Sunday afternoons. The Geneva History Center
We are fortunate to have a nationally acclaimed history museum in the heart of Geneva’s picturesque downtown. Located at 113 South Third Street, the museum features engaging exhibits, fun family programs, guided walking tours and special events.
