"A Tea Story"
In China around 2750 BC, legend has it than an Emperor named Shen Nung was sitting in the shade of a wild tea tree boiling some drinking water. A breeze blew a few leaves into his pot and gave the water a delicious flavor. From China, the love of tea spread to Japan with Buddhist monks who traveled to and from China. In 1840, Anna the Seventh Duchess of Bedford, took to drinking tea with a little light frood in the middle of the day to subside a "sinking feeling" she was experiencing during the long gap between breakfast and dinner. A pot of tea was served with some break and butter at 4 o'clock and the Dutchess started inviting friends to join her tea parties in the middle of the afternoon. Eventually, "Afternoon Tea" became an essential part of British social life and became more upscale. Afternoon tea in Chicago became popular in the early 1980's during the visit of Prince Charles. Tea is now an increasingly popular addition to many people's busy lives; giving them a moment to relax and catch up on good times with their dearest friends.
